Question:

i would like to hear from any one who has extremely high insulin levels, but my glucose levels up?
i would like to hear from any one who has extremely high insulin levels, but my glucose levels up?
i would like to hear from level, but unlike with others that i have read about, my glucose levels are in the upper range of normal, my dr has said that most normal people with that amount of insulin in their system would be in a coma. but i havent been diagnosed with diabetes, could anyone explain to me what all this could be about,my magnesium levels are low and my ldl chol was 2.9, triglceride 1.3, ldl/hdl ratio 1.9, chol/hdl ratio 3.3, which i have no idea what any of this means. i would love to hear from any one that could explain this more as i seem to be getting delegated to different specialist & seem to have no more of a solution to whats going on than i did, when i first got blood results
the levels that are up are the serum insulin
fasting is meant to be (<11) mine- 40uu/ml
1 hour is meant to be (9-45)mine-423uu/ml
2 hour is meant to be (5-30)mine-585uu/ml
can any body with some medical knowledge tell me what this means, also what i can do to change these results.
thats on the glucose tolerance test any one who has extremely? i had a fasting gtt, they were 10 times the range with sky rocketing insulin levels high insulin levels, but my glucose levels up

Okay, first not sure what you result of over 11 is diabetes after a GTT. Diabetes is when you have less insulin, or insulin resistence and you blood sugar levels go to high for you body to cope with.
Cholesterol ... total should be less than 5, LDL is the bad cholesterol, if memory is right, should be less than 3.4, HDL is the good cholesterol and should be above 1, Trig's are the blood fats and I think less than 2. So basically your cholesterol is okay.

After your extra details .......
I'm not sure, we dont test insulin levels here with a GTT we test serum glucose levels. So if your insulin is high, it wouldn't mean diabetes. A diagnosis of diabetes is made purely on the serum glucose levels. Found soem interesting stuff on mean about insulin levels, not sue if you are. You can have a high is - over 7 is diabetic, between 5.5 and 7 is pe-diabetes and you would be sent confused and mean sugar levels fasting glucose, depends on what the reading for a GTT. A 2hr post load glucose
google, here is one link (highly technical though) ... http://www.jewishhospitalcincinnati.com/ cholesterol/Research/insulin_resistance. html
